NewTek Introduces VT[4] Live Integrated Production Suite

NewTek is now shipping its VT[4] Live integrated production suite. VT[4] Live offers computer-based live production capabilities, including switching and titling for network broadcast, serverless Web streaming at the touch of a button, real-time layering and effects for video and graphics for a variety of formats, and image scaling. NewTek's VT[4] Live includes integrated timeline and storyboard editing with animated titling, paint, 3D modeling and animation, and keying.

VT[4] LIVE, with the VT[4], SX-84 and the RS-8, is priced at $5995. VT[4] Card and Software only is $3995. Upgrades for previous owners are $995.

Formac Refurbishes FireWire Media Converter

Formac has announced a new verison of its FireWire Media Converter, which converts analog media to DV in real-time. The converter requires at least Mac OSX, Firewire 400 or 800, G3 processor speed, 500Mhz performance, and QuickTime 4 or higher. Available formats are DV, Digital 8, Video8, Hi 8, VHS, S-VHS, VHS-C, and S-VHS-C. Formac also sells the Devideon DVD authoring drive, based on the Pioneer A05.

The Studio DV FireWire media converter is $169; the Devideon is $99.

TEAC America Introduces Standalone CD-R Duplicators

TEAC has announced the launch of its full line of 1:1, 1:3 and 1:7 CD-R duplicators.TEAC's new line of 1x1, 1x3 and 1x7 CD-R duplicators are standalone disc-to-disc CD-R duplication systems requiring no PC connection. With the numerous menu commands and optional hard disk drive, TEAC's 1x3 and 1x7 Tower Duplicators are designed to meet production-level duplication requirements. TEAC duplicators offer duplication at 52X speeds.

TEAC 1:1 CD-R Duplicator, CDW/D11A/KIT is currently available through TEAC America's Distribution partners. TEAC 1:3 CD-R Duplicator without Hard Drive, CDW/D13A/KIT, TEAC 1:3 CD-R Duplicator with 80GB Hard Drive, CDW/D13A/KIT/H, TEAC 1:7 CD-R Duplicator without Hard Drive, CDW/D17A/KIT and TEAC 1:7 CD-R Duplicator with 80GB Hard Drive, CDW/D17A/KIT/H will be available through TEAC America's Distribution partners from February 1, 2005.

Canopus Announces $400 EDIUS NX for HDV Rebate Program

Canopus Corporation has announced an EDIUS NX for HDV $400 rebate program. Until January 30, 2005, U.S. and Canadian registered users of Canopus DVStorm2 and DVStorm2 Pro nonlinear editing solutions will receive a $400 rebate when moving up to the company's new EDIUS NX for HDV editing solution. EDIUS NX for HDV is an integrated software and hardware solution for real-time HD and SD editing, effects and compositing. EDIUS NX for HDV lets videographers mix HD and SD video footage in real-time and work with unlimited video, audio and effects layers, according to Canopus, while providing real-time high-quality, full-resolution HD video output to an HD monitor for preview.

Using EDIUS Pro 3 nonlinear editing software, EDIUS NX for HDV provides native editing and real-time processing of HDV, DV, uncompressed SD, MPEG-2, MPEG-1 formats. EDIUS Pro 3 is designed for maximum performance with realtime, multi-track, mixed-format HD/SD editing, compositing, chromakeying, titling, and timeline output capabilities, and supports real-time output of multiple video tracks, effects, and graphics and title layers. EDIUS Pro 3 also supports direct-to-DVD timeline export.

In addition to support for native editing of HDV clips in their original MPEG-2 format, EDIUS NX for HDV lets users edit by way of the company's acclaimed VBR Canopus HQ codec for increased quality and real-time performance. EDIUS NX for HDV can also capture SD analog footage to uncompressed, lossless, and DV formats.
