Continuing Education: Marketing Secrets of the Wedding Vendor Superstars by Steve Yankee

"Marketing Secrets of the Wedding Vendor Superstars," a marketing seminar, was presented by EventDV columnist and Video Business Advisor founder Steve Yankee to the Buffalo chapter of the Association of Bridal Consultants earlier this year. He created a DVD of the presentation and is marketing it to wedding professionals who need help with their marketing (which is the majority of people in our industry, from the comments I hear).

Yankee’s Superstars DVD is chock-full of information and easy to watch at only 48 minutes long. The DVD combines footage of Yankee speaking at the podium, mixed in with PowerPoint presentation slides. The group cutaway shots remind you that he's speaking to an audience. His tips are simple enough that everyone can begin to apply them right away.

Yankee gives you four secrets to achieving bridal business success. He explains why you are the secret ingredient in your business, and what you can do to market yourself, rather than the products or services you offer. Personalization in your website and other company materials is also very important, he says. He gives tips on building name-recognition and becoming a "center of influence" in your industry or geographical area. Yankee also has four magic words to help you grow your business (I won't give them away here). Marketing Secrets of the Wedding Vendor Superstars sells for only $32.95, which is a bargain for the valuable tips you'll pick up by watching this DVD (VBA members save an additional 20%), and why I highly recommend you order your copy today! When I go to wedding association meetings to hear a speaker, I have to get dressed up, usually drive more than one hour just to get there, pay for parking ($10-25) and pay for dinner ($25-$50 or more), and then drive an hour back home again; not to mention the cost of gas and my time away from home! Order Yankee's Secrets DVD and you'll get to attend his seminar without even leaving your house.

In addition, I highly recommend that you subscribe to Steve Yankee’s Weekly Video Tips. Every Monday morning, Weekly Video Tips subscribers receive a free video business or marketing tip they can use right away to start, grow, or manage their production business. Not only that, but when you sign up for free, you can also receive Yankee’s "99 Hot Tips," which gives you insider tips to supercharge your video production business.

While you're signing up for Weekly Video Tips, check out membership in the Video Business Advisor. The yearly membership is only $97 year or $12.95 a month. You will get more than your money’s worth.

Epson Introduces Desktop Disc Publisher for CD and DVD Duplication

Epson, a leading manufacturer of advanced inkjet printing, precision imaging and robotics technology, today announced the release of Discproducer, a compact, integrated desktop disc duplication solution designed for businesses that need to create professional quality CDs or DVDs on demand.

Discproducer enables the creation of individualized disc content, label content or both, at quantities of one to one-hundred discs per job. Using Discproducer, educators, disc publishing service bureaus and professional photographers can burn and print up to 100 copies of the same disc or unique discs, making it an ideal and flexible solution for low-volume disc publishing where high quality customized labeling is required.

Equipped with Epson's patented AcuGrip(TM) robotic technology, Discproducer's robotic arm greatly minimizes the double-disc feeding problem, and moves discs from station to station to prevent damage from sliding media. Discproducer also features a built-in, six color inkjet printer that delivers industry-leading print quality. Developed with Epson's patented MicroPiezo inkjet technology, the printer provides precise control of ink droplets and size, delivering labels with superior color, text and vibrant graphics. One set of Discproducer's ink cartridges can create over 1,000 discs, making it easier to operate than other disc publishers in its class. In addition, each cartridge includes a low-ink sensor and LED to ensure that operators have adequate ink to complete a full run.

"Businesses that need to produce custom promotional, educational or archival materials on CDs and DVDs gain an economical solution with Discproducer," said Bud Weist, vice president of sales and marketing, Epson System Device Group. "Discproducer was developed for high-quality performance in a desktop environment. Other desktop disc publishing solutions can't deliver the same combination of features, superior print quality and overall reliability."

The Epson Discproducer benefits businesses such as duplication service bureaus that want to profit from serving the growing media production market; educators that need to duplicate course materials for students and faculty; and photographers who duplicate individual photo discs for clients.

Product Features

  • Discproducer's AcuGrip mechanism helps ensure that the robotic arm reliably grabs only one CD or DVD disc -- even if media is stuck together.
  • Discproducer generates up to 30 CDs or up to 13 DVDs per hour, speeding jobs to completion.
  • Epson specifies Taiyo-Yuden Watershield media for high-quality, smudge-proof and water-resistant label printing.
  • One-year limited warranty.

The Epson Discproducer will be available in the first quarter of 2008 through Epson's designated sales and distribution channels.

Leopard’s new desktop includes the redesigned 3D Dock with Stacks, a new way to organize files for quick and easy access with just one click. Leopard automatically places web, email and other downloads in a Downloads stack to maintain a clutter-free desktop, and users can instantly fan the contents of this and other Stacks into an elegant arc right from the Dock. Users can also create their own Stacks for quick access to folders, documents or applications. Leopard’s gorgeous new look extends to all applications, with every window on the desktop offering a consistent design theme and active windows outlined by deeper shadows that make them stand out.

The updated Finder includes Cover Flow® and a new sidebar with a dramatically simplified way to search for, browse and copy content from any PC or Mac on a local network. Content on any computer on a local network can now be searched using Spotlight™, browsed using Cover Flow or copied across the network with a simple drag and drop. .Mac members can use the new Back to My Mac feature to browse and access files on their remote Macs over the Internet.

Quick Look is the fastest and easiest way for users to look inside files without launching them or even having the application that created them. With Quick Look, users can instantly view full-screen, high-resolution files of virtually anything, even media files, from any view in the Finder.

Spaces gives users a powerful new way to organize their work by creating customized desktops which can contain only those applications or documents needed for each project, with the ability to quickly switch between Spaces with the mouse or keyboard.

Time Machine lets users easily back up all of the data on their Mac, find lost files and even restore all of the software on their Mac. With just a one-click setup, Time Machine automatically keeps an up-to-date copy of everything on the Mac. In the event a file is lost, users can search back through time to find deleted files, applications, photos and other digital media and then instantly restore the file. If it’s ever necessary, Leopard can also easily restore an entire system from the Time Machine data on an external drive.

Mail has been updated in Leopard and features more than 30 stationery designs and layouts that look great on a Windows PC or Mac so users can easily send stylish, personalized emails with beautiful graphics and photos. Notes and To Dos help users stay organized by acting just like emails that can be easily created, saved as drafts, synced across multiple Macs and stored in Smart Mailboxes. Data detectors automatically sense phone numbers, addresses and events so they can be added to Address Book or iCal® with just a few clicks, and users can keep up-to-date by getting the latest news and blog feeds delivered directly to their mailboxes with a built-in RSS reader.

iChat®, the easiest-to-use video conferencing application on any personal computer, offers even richer video chats in Leopard with iChat Theater, which makes it easy to show photos, presentations, videos or files in a video conference; screen sharing which lets users remotely view and operate another Mac; and Photo Booth® effects for fun distortions and video backdrops that can instantly make users appear to be anywhere they choose.
